I hope that you all had a relaxing and peaceful summer after all your hard work in the summer term. It is great to be back at school ready to learn more about nature, space, chemicals , gems, microbeasts and lots more.

I would just like to share a photo of a place I visited in Japan during the summer. Does anyone know the name of this building? (Clue: A precious metal and a place of worship)
Let me know in the comments if you do know.

Hi Mrs Mannan, I explored the blog.
Hey Dani! Welcome to How on Earth! Mrs Mannan
Dear Mrs Mannan,
Your blog is very interesting! I just wanted to know- when the light reflects on the floor how does it make a rainbow?
Hey Freya! Welcome to the blog!
You have asked a brilliant question.
We usually see a rainbow when the white light splits into its seven colours : violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. If the white lights hits the floor when there is some oil mixed in with water on the floor, the light splits and forms a rainbow of colours!
I hope that answers your question Freya.
Dear Mrs Mannan,
I have explored your blog and I love it

Hi Mrs Mannan!
This is an easy guess for me because my japanese Granny took me there last year, just after it was re-guilded!
This place is called ‘The Golden Temple.’ The top two floors were completely covered in gold and it shone in the sun.
It’s’s near where my mum grew up in Nara!
Wee done P ! You are absolutely right!
I loved my trip to Japan and meeting good friends.
